It dates back to the 13th century, and at 3.79 ha (9.4 acres) is one of the largest medieval town squares in Europe. The Project for Public Spaces (PPS) lists the square as the best public space in Europe due to its lively street life, and it was a major factor in the inclusion of Krak\u00f3w as one of the top off-the-beaten-path destinations in the world in 2016. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" The Wawel Castle<\/a> is a castle residency located in central Krak\u00f3w, Poland. Built at the behest of King Casimir III the Great, it consists of a number of structures situated around the Italian-styled main courtyard<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" The Wieliczka Salt Mine<\/a>, in the town of Wieliczka, southern Poland, lies within the Krak\u00f3w metropolitan area. Sodium chloride was formerly produced there from the upwelling brine \u2013 and had been since Neolithic times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" The Auschwitz<\/a> concentration camp was a complex of over 40 concentration and extermination camps built and operated by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland during World War II and the Holocaust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" Oskar Schindler\u2019s Enamel Factory<\/a>, a former metal item factory in Krak\u00f3w, is now host to two museums: the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krak\u00f3w, on the former workshops, and a branch of the Historical Museum of the City of Krak\u00f3w, situated at ul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" Morskie Oko<\/a> is the largest and fourth-deepest lake in the Tatra Mountains. It is located deep within the Tatra National Park, Poland, in the Rybi Potok Valley, of the High Tatras mountain range at the base of the Mi\u0119guszowiecki Summits, in Lesser Poland Voivodeship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\" Kasprowy Wierch<\/a> is a peak of a long crest in the Western Tatras one of Poland\u2019s main winter ski areas. Its dominant southern crests, WSW and ESE, mark the border with Slovakia. It is accessible in most conditions by foot and daily by cablecar<\/p>\n\n\n\n
